Program Description
Has your teen ever wondered what it takes to train a horse? Well, this is the camp for them! This one-week session will have campers in the barn most of the day, learning good communication skills with horses. Riders will learn about the tools we use at Camp Meriwether to talk with our horses, read horse body language, and discover the horse’s individual “horsenalities.” Campers will then take those new skills learned on the ground and will transfer them into the saddle. This session will also cover ethical leadership skills, animal empathy, and help campers work towards their Animal Helpers and Voice for Animals Badges! Some prior horse experience is needed for this program. Campers are ready for this program when they can independently halt and steer at the walk and trot.
