FAQ

Horseback Riding Classes & Placement

During our check-in process, we spend time interviewing and evaluating each camper’s riding skills.

Unit / Cabin Life

Girls will be placed into units based upon ages and sessions. Unit life includes such things as cooking out, chores, an activity, turtle time and talking with other girls and their counselors. Camp Misty Mountain's cabins have air-conditioning and twin-size bunk beds. Cabins sleeps 6-24 girls and counselors.

Can girls who are not Girl Scouts go to camp?

Campers will need to become registered Girl Scouts to attend summer camp. You don’t have to be a member of a girl scout troop to sign up for camp, you can be a Juliette, or a Girl Scout without a troop. All campers who come to camp can try new things like cooking in the great outdoors or conquering the challenge course. For more information on Juliette Scouting, please email juliettes@gsgatl.org.

What if the pick-up or drop-off times do not work for us?

Scheduled drop off and pick up times are listed in your ‘What to Expect Packet’. If you need to arrive later than the scheduled drop off time, contact the camp director 1 week prior to the start of the camp session. Campers cannot arrive early before the drop off time because camp staff are getting ready for the session. If you need to pick up your camper early, before the pick up time, let the camp director know when you drop her off. There are no late pick up options.

Driving Directions

Take I-75 to Exit 312 (Calhoun, outlet mall). Go West on Hwy 53 until you pass a Walmart on left. Go over hill and turn right at stoplight onto South River Street (Hwy 136). Drive 5 miles to town of Sugar Valley, cross railroad tracks, and turn left onto Lake Marvin Rd, which then changes to Pocket Rd NW. Drive for a while, over ridge, until you arrive at the camp.
