Program Description

Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta’s progressive leadership program gives campers the skills, experiences, and opportunities to let their leadership shine! Counselor-in-Training I (CIT I) with Aquatics is the cornerstone of our camp leadership program. This training is a two-week sleepaway experience for scouts entering 9th-11th grades. The CIT I camp is an intensive introduction to youth development, counseling, teaching, and leadership skills. In CIT I, participants will learn and practice skills needed to be positive and supportive mentors to younger campers while contributing to an empowering and inclusive community experience. Campers will work to strengthen their swimming, paddling, and water safety skills and explore this important area of our camp. We’ll practice and prepare for the Red Cross Lifeguard prerequisite test and learn more about the safety requirements of managing pool and lake activities. We’ll also participate in the Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification course. *Upon successful completion of the First Aid and CPR course, participants will receive the Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification.
