Program Description

Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta’s progressive leadership program gives campers the skills, experiences, and opportunities to let their leadership light shine! Counselor in Training II (CIT II) is the natural progression for those successful in the CIT I experience. This two-week sleepaway program is for campers entering 11th and 12th grades and those who have successfully completed CIT I. It allows participants to move their leadership skills to the next level. With a strong focus on furthering skills in mentoring, program experiences, and counseling younger campers, the CIT II level adds knowledge and practical experience in the critical areas of team dynamics, project management, leadership, and followership when working with peers. The CIT II camp participants may become certified or receive instructor training in a specialty program area, with options including archery, lifeguarding, paddling, and facilitating belayed rope experiences. The CIT II camp delivers the skills to transform participants beyond being strong youth leaders; they become vital members of a mission-focused team and community.
