Program Description

Has your child ever wondered what it takes to train a horse? Well, this is the camp for her! This two-week session will have campers in the barn most of the day learning good communication skills with horses. Riders will learn about the tools we use at Camp Misty Mountain to talk with our horses, read horse body language and discover the horse’s individual “horsenalities.” Campers will then take those new skills learned on the ground and transfer them into the saddle. This session will also cover ethical leadership skills, animal empathy, and help campers work towards their Animal Helpers and Voice for Animals Badges! Some prior horse experience is needed for this program. Campers are ready for this program when they can independently halt, walk, and steer their horse.
